This error is not new to players of GTA VC or GTA San Andreas and I finally got the fix for the same. In this article I will be sharing the causes and the fixes for the issue. I have been playing the GTA series for quiet long time and my pc broke down due to some problem and when I tried playing the game on my windows 7 OS, the following error pops up: "GTA Vice City cannot find enough Video Memory."
Happened with you too, isn't it? Well lets look at reasons as to why you are having such a problem with GTA Vice City Video memory.
Minimum System Requirements of GTA Vice City (Note Video Memory Requirements)
Before going any further into causes and fixes, lets first have a look at Minimum System Requirements of the Game:
1. 800 MHz Intel Pentium III or 800 MHz AMD Athlon or 1.2 GHz Intel Celeron
2. 128 MB of RAM
3. 915 MB of free Hard Disk Space
4. 32 MB Video Card with Directx 9.0 compatible drivers
So, if you are having a system with above features or higher, then you may proceed further into looking the fixes.
GTA VICE CITY NOT AVAILABLE VIDEO MEMORY ERROR FIX
1. INSTALL LATEST VERSION OF DIRECTX: I have seen people getting this error even when they have fully upgraded their system to brand new graphics card and have all system requirements covered. Most common solution in such a case was installing latest version of Directx and retrying the game.2. DISABLE PROGRAMS EATING VIDEO MEMORY: Run dxdiag and go to display tab. Check available total memory. It must be minimum 32 MB. If its not 32 or more, restart and go to BIOS and increase the memory.
3. CHANGE RESOLUTION TO 640X480: Try changing resolution to a lower one. You may also use 16 Bit settings to play the game as recommended in forums. This method works for many people.
4. LOWER HARDWARE ACCELERATION FOR SOUND: Again go to dxdiag, go to Sound tab and set hardware sound acceleration down to none, basic or Standard instead of full acceleration. Exit the window and try running the game again.
5. OPENGL MODE METHOD: Try opening the game in openGl and play the game. This single step has worked for many players out there.
6. REINSTALL VIDEO CARD: If none of the games work and you really have a graphics card with minimum features to play the game, then re-installing the video card doesn't seem like a bad idea either.
7. DISABLE TLC: Just by disabling TLC in registry many users have started playing the game with no issues at all. Many people in elite game forums recommend trying this.
8. BUY A NEW GRAPHICS CARD: Many a times your graphics card gets old and you are unable to play any game with it. Try upgrading your graphics card to at least 500 MB video memory as its mostly common these days. While purchasing graphics card please make a note whether you have an AGP or PCI slot in motherboard for the card. Please check DDR version too.
9. GET LATEST GAME CD: damage or scratches in the game CD can also be a reason for errors. Many people just use pirated versions and their pc gets affected with viruses. So, buying a new CD and playing it can be of great help as well.
10. CHECK FOR VIRUSES: Get a new computer and please check for viruses. Infected computers are always prone to problems and errors. I had my CD ejecting by themselves because of infected OS in my old PC. I got it fixed only after I got a new computer.
I hope those 10 tips were helpful in solving "Not enough video memory" problem. Enjoy gaming GTA VC.
